Business To Business, Thrissur, 14th June, 2026: Speaking at an event held as part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh centenary outreach programme, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Sunday that the organisation's core objective is to unite society and contribute to India's national resurgence.
Addressing the gathering, Bhagwat emphasized that the RSS was not established to seek political power, electoral success, or public popularity. According to him, the organisation was founded to serve a broader national purpose and work towards the welfare and development of the country.
"The Sangh was not started as an opposition to any community. It was not founded for power or popularity. It was started to fulfil a larger national purpose and contribute to everything necessary for the welfare and resurgence of the country," Bhagwat said.
He reiterated that the RSS seeks to organize society and strengthen social cohesion, describing this as essential for national progress. His remarks came amid the RSS's centenary year activities, during which the organisation has been highlighting its history, ideology, and role in social and nation-building initiatives.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, founded in 1925, is one of India's largest socio-cultural organisations and has played a significant role in shaping various social, educational, and public-service initiatives across the country. Bhagwat's comments sought to underline the organisation's stated mission of social organisation and national development rather than political advancement.
