Business To Business, Kolkata, 28 October 2025: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday described the Supreme Court's decision to not interfere with the Calcutta High Court's directive on resuming MGNREGA in West Bengal as a "supreme blow" to the BJP-led central government and a significant victory for the state's poor and deprived beneficiaries.
The Supreme Court dismissed the Centre's plea challenging the high court's June 18 order, which mandated the prospective implementation of the 100-day job guarantee scheme from August 1. Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta stated there was "no reason to interfere" with the ruling.
TMC leader Pradip Mazumdar, addressing a press conference, claimed the verdict validated the party's stance that the BJP had engaged in "illegal, unethical and politically motivated deprivation" of West Bengal's workers.
