Shah reaches out to Christian community on Easter; seeks support to form govt in Kerala
Business To Business, Kochi, 05 April 2026: Amit Shah on Sunday reached out to the Christian community on the occasion of Easter, urging support for the BJP-led NDA in the upcoming elections in Kerala.
Addressing a public meeting in Kunnathunadu, Shah made several key promises and allegations:
- Appeal to Christian voters: Asked the community to back the NDA to help it form a government in Kerala.
- Sabarimala issue: Referred to alleged misappropriation of gold at Sabarimala Temple, stating that those responsible would be jailed within two months if the NDA comes to power.
- Healthcare promise: Said Kerala would get its first All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), which would become operational within two years of an NDA सरकार being formed.
The remarks come as part of the NDA’s campaign strategy ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, with a focus on:
- Expanding support among minority communities
- Highlighting governance and development promises
- Raising issues linked to religious institutions and accountability
Shah’s outreach signals an effort to broaden the BJP-led alliance’s base in a state where it has traditionally had limited electoral success.
