South India has rejected BJP's 'divisive ideology', Modi's leadership: Sapkal

Business To Business, Mumbai, 4th May 2026:  Harshwardhan Sapkal on Monday sharply criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that voters in southern India rejected what he described as the party’s “divisive and toxic ideology” as well as the leadership of Narendra Modi.
Reacting to the outcomes and trends in the Assembly elections in India—including West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Puducherry—Sapkal alleged that the BJP employed “all means, fair and foul” to secure victories but failed to significantly expand its footprint in the southern states.
He also accused the central government of overstepping norms in West Bengal, alleging the involvement of institutions such as the Election Commission of India, along with central agencies and security forces, to influence the electoral process.
His remarks come amid mixed electoral outcomes: the BJP is poised to form government in West Bengal and retain power in Assam, has made limited gains in Kerala, and remains part of the ruling alliance in Puducherry, while facing resistance in much of southern India.
