Suvendu calls for neutrality in administration, says govt won't use officers for political gains

Business To Business, Kolkata, 01st July, 2026:   West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday said his government would not use the administration for political purposes and urged West Bengal Civil Service (Executive) officers to uphold neutrality, professionalism and impartiality in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Addressing a gathering of WBCS (Executive) officers at the Dhan Dhanya Auditorium in Kolkata, the chief minister said the administration should function independently and focus on restoring public confidence in governance.
"I will not use you. I will not turn you into political workers during elections," Adhikari said, assuring the officers that his government would respect the neutrality of the civil service.
He emphasised that an independent and professional bureaucracy is essential for transparent and effective governance and called upon officers to discharge their duties without political influence.
