Suvendu directs police to reopen files to act against people who blocked BJP's activities in Keshpur

Business To Business, Kolkata, 11 August 2026:  West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday directed police to withdraw what he described as false and politically motivated cases against people who allegedly faced persecution for supporting the BJP in Keshpur, Paschim Medinipur district.
Adhikari said individuals who faced administrative pressure and police harassment for allegedly chanting "Narendra Modi Zindabad" during the previous TMC government should have such cases reviewed and, where appropriate, withdrawn.
He instructed Paschim Medinipur Superintendent of Police Papiya Sultana to reopen files concerning the cases.
At the same time, Adhikari called for action against people whom he alleged had disrupted BJP political activities in the area. Referring to an incident during a BJP political meeting in the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign, he said those responsible should be identified and prosecuted.
The remarks underline the continuing political confrontation between the BJP and TMC in Keshpur, an area that has historically witnessed political clashes and allegations of violence.
