Suvendu files nomination from Nandigram, braces for duel with Mamata in Bhabanipur

Business To Business, Kolkata, 31 March 2026: Declaring that the battle for Nandigram has become “easier” than in 2021, Suvendu Adhikari on Monday filed his nomination papers from the constituency he has represented since 2016, before shifting focus to a larger political contest in Bhabanipur, where he is expected to take on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
If Nandigram was the stage for one of Bengal’s most dramatic political upsets in the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021, Bhabanipur now appears poised to host its sequel. Adhikari had defeated Banerjee in Nandigram by a narrow margin of 1,956 votes in 2021.
The Leader of the Opposition filed his nomination papers before the sub-divisional officer in Haldia following a roadshow across parts of Purba Medinipur. He was accompanied by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh.
