Business To Business, Kolkata, 28th June, 2026: The battle for control of the All India Trinamool Congress intensified on Sunday as the faction led by Mamata Banerjee lodged fresh police complaints against dissident leader Ritabrata Banerjee and his associates, accusing them of unlawfully using the party's name, election symbol and organisational designations to mislead party workers and supporters.
The complaints were filed by TMC Joint National Secretary Dola Sen.
The latest action comes a day after the party's "Kalighat wing" approached the Pragati Maidan and New Town police stations with similar allegations against the breakaway faction.
The legal move marks a further escalation in the month-long internal struggle within the party following its Assembly election defeat, with both factions increasingly turning to legal and organisational measures to strengthen their competing claims over the party's identity, structure and legacy.
The dispute has widened beyond political differences, with both camps seeking to establish legitimacy through formal complaints and organisational assertions as the leadership battle continues.
