TMC loyalists attend Bengal CM Suvendu's administrative meet as rebellion deepens in party

Business To Business, Kolkata, 3rd June, 2026:   The attendance of several senior All India Trinamool Congress leaders considered close to Mamata Banerjee at a government review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday has added a new dimension to the political uncertainty surrounding the party.
Among those present at the administrative meeting at Nabanna were:

  • Nayana Bandyopadhyay
  • Firhad Hakim
  • Ashok Deb
  • Kunal Ghosh
All four have generally been viewed as long-standing associates and loyalists of Mamata Banerjee.
Their participation in the meeting came at a time when the TMC's legislature wing appears to be facing its most serious internal crisis. Earlier in the day, a group of 58 dissident TMC MLAs reportedly informed Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose that they had elected Ritabrata Banerjee as the new leader of the legislature party.
The presence of leaders associated with Mamata Banerjee at an official meeting chaired by the BJP-led state government is likely to fuel political speculation about evolving alignments within the opposition camp. However, attendance at administrative review meetings does not by itself indicate a change in political allegiance, and none of the leaders concerned publicly linked their participation to the ongoing dispute within the TMC.
The developments underscore the fluid political situation in West Bengal following the party's electoral defeat and the subsequent rebellion within its legislative ranks. How the TMC leadership, the dissident MLAs, and the Assembly authorities respond in the coming days will be crucial in determining the future shape of the opposition in the state.
