TMC-M to part ways with NDA to strengthen grassroots org structure: Party chief Vasan

Business To Business, Chennai, 14th June, 2026:    The Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar), led by former Union minister G. K. Vasan, announced on Sunday that it has decided to leave the National Democratic Alliance.
The party said the decision was taken to focus on strengthening its organisational structure at the grassroots level and to pursue its political activities independently.
In Tamil Nadu, the NDA is currently led by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Other constituents of the alliance in the state include the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazagam, the Pattali Makkal Katchi led by Anbumani Ramadoss, and the TMC-M.
The exit of TMC-M marks a change in the alliance arithmetic ahead of future elections in Tamil Nadu, although the party has indicated that its immediate priority is organisational expansion rather than alliance politics.
Founded by the late G. K. Moopanar, the TMC-M has periodically aligned with both major political fronts in Tamil Nadu over the years. The latest decision signals an attempt by the party to rebuild its independent political presence in the state before making future electoral decisions.
