TMC Ritabrata group seeks regional SIR tribunals, HC intervention; raises loudspeaker issue with CM

Business To Business Kolkata, 07 August, 2026:    The Trinamool Congress faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee on Friday urged Suvendu Adhikari to establish regional tribunals across West Bengal to address disputes arising from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The demand was raised during a meeting between the Chief Minister and a 13-member delegation of the Ritabrata Banerjee-led faction at the state secretariat Nabanna, headed by the Leader of the Opposition.
Key demands raised

  • Electoral roll disputes:
    • The faction sought regional tribunals to hear objections and disputes linked to the SIR process.
    • It warned that it would approach the courts if adequate safeguards were not ensured for genuine voters.
  • Loudspeaker issue:
    • The group also raised concerns over the removal of loudspeakers from mosques and temples following court directions related to noise pollution.
    • It indicated that it may seek judicial intervention on the matter.
The faction said the proposed measures were necessary to protect voter rights and address concerns related to religious and community issues.
