TMC's Kakoli quits all party posts, broadside against leadership deepens churn after poll drubbing

Business To Business, Kolkata, 27th May, 2026:  The developments reported in All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) point to growing internal tensions following the party’s poor performance in the recent West Bengal Assembly elections.
Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, a four-term MP from Barasat and former national president of the party’s women’s wing, has resigned from all organisational posts. She also made strong public remarks referring to alleged corruption issues, the RG Kar hospital controversy, and concerns about the increasing influence of political consultancy firms such as I-PAC in party functioning.
Her resignation came shortly after she attended an administrative review-style meeting in Kalyani, which was reportedly organised by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari. Party insiders say her participation in the meeting went against informal instructions from the TMC leadership, although this aspect has not been officially confirmed.
The sequence of events has intensified speculation about internal friction within the TMC, particularly after its electoral setback. Reports suggest that differences within the party are increasingly being expressed publicly, reflecting unease over organisational control, messaging strategy, and post-election accountability debates.
The situation remains politically sensitive, and the TMC leadership has not issued a detailed public response regarding her resignation at the time of reporting.
