TMC's Koel Mallick resigns from Rajya Sabha, becomes 4th MP to sever ties with Mamata

Business To Business, Kolkata, 16th July, 2026:   Actor-turned-politician and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Rukmini Mallick, popularly known as Koel Mallick, on Thursday resigned from the Rajya Sabha, becoming the fourth TMC MP to quit the Upper House since the Mamata Banerjee-led party was voted out of power in West Bengal.
Mallick met Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan and submitted her resignation.
According to a Rajya Sabha notification, "Shrimati Rukmini Mallik, an elected Member of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), representing the State of West Bengal, resigned her seat in the Rajya Sabha and her resignation has been accepted by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha, with effect from July 16, 2026."
