Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday moved a government resolution in the Assembly mandating the rendition of Tamil Thaai Vazhthu, the state's official invocation song, at the beginning of government events.
Piloting the resolution, Vijay said his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government would not compromise on Tamil Nadu's linguistic and cultural rights.
In an emotive address, Vijay said Tamil was not merely a language but also a source of life and emotion, stressing the importance of protecting the mother tongue.
