TN CM orders road in Tambaram named after Ashoka Chakra awardee Major Mukund Varadharajan

Business To Business, Chennai, 24th June, 2026:   Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Wednesday directed that the road stretching from Tambaram Railway Station to Velachery be named Major Mukund Varadharajan Salai in honor of the late Indian Army officer Major Mukund Varadharajan.
Honoring a Fallen Soldier
Major Mukund Varadharajan served as a commissioned officer in the Rajput Regiment and was on deputation with the 44 Rashtriya Rifles when he was killed in action during a counter-terrorism operation in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on April 25, 2014.
Born on April 12, 1983, he was 31 years old at the time of his death.

Major Varadharajan is remembered for displaying exceptional bravery while leading operations against terrorists. His sacrifice has been widely recognized, and he remains an inspiration for many young Indians aspiring to serve in the armed forces.
