Top Cong leaders engage in hectic parleys over new govt formation in Karnataka

Business To Business, Bengaluru, 29th May, 2026:    Senior leaders of the Indian National Congress held intense deliberations on Friday over the formation of a new government in Karnataka after Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot formally accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and dissolved the cabinet.
The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) is scheduled to meet on Saturday at the conference hall of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru to elect its new leader in the state.
The meeting will be chaired by Siddaramaiah, while Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar is expected to be elected as the new CLP leader and likely next chief minister.
A day after stepping down, Siddaramaiah, accompanied by his son Yathindra Siddaramaiah, met senior Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge in the national capital to discuss the transition.
