Udhayanidhi dismisses ‘double-meaning’ allegation, says he demanded release of Cauvery water
Business To Business, Tiruchirappalli , 04 August, 2026: Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday rejected allegations that he made a "double-meaning" remark insulting the modesty of a woman, calling the accusation false after being released by the police.
Speaking to reporters, Udhayanidhi said:
- His remarks had a "single meaning", not a double meaning.
- He was referring only to the demand for the release of Cauvery river water for Tamil Nadu.
- He had not spoken ill of anyone.
He also accused
C. Joseph Vijay of attempting to divert attention from the core issue.
Defending himself against the allegations, Udhayanidhi said he respected women, adding that he has
a wife, a sister and a daughter, and therefore had
not insulted women.
The case relates to allegations that his remarks amounted to insulting the modesty of a woman, an accusation that Udhayanidhi has categorically denied.
