West Bengal cabinet expansion on Monday, 35 ministers to take oath

Business To Business, Kolkata, 31st May, 2026:   Suvendu Adhikari announced on Sunday that 35 ministers will be sworn in on Monday as part of the expansion of his government in West Bengal.
According to Adhikari, the oath-taking ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Lok Bhavan, where R. N. Ravi will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister said:
"Tomorrow, a full-fledged Council of Ministers of the nationalist government elected by the people of West Bengal will be constituted."
Significance
The cabinet expansion comes after the formation of the new government following the recent West Bengal Assembly elections. The induction of 35 ministers is expected to:

  • Complete the formation of the Council of Ministers.
  • Allocate responsibilities across key departments.
  • Strengthen the administration's governance structure.
  • Reflect regional, social, and political representation within the ruling alliance.
The swearing-in ceremony will formally establish the full ministerial team that will assist the Chief Minister in governing the state over the coming term.
Political observers will closely watch the composition of the cabinet, particularly the allocation of major portfolios such as finance, home, industry, health, education, and urban development.
