Business To Business, Mumbai, 02 January, 2026: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi called for the Centre's intervention to implement safeguards within the AI applications of the social media platform X, emphasizing the importance of women's safety.
In a correspondence addressed to Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Chaturvedi highlighted a concerning trend on social media, particularly on X, where men are utilizing fake accounts to share women's images and are promoting prompts that encourage the minimization of their clothing and the sexualization of women through the exploitation of the AI Grok feature.
"This issue extends beyond merely sharing images via fake accounts; it also involves targeting women who share their own photographs. Such actions are intolerable and represent a significant misuse of an AI function.
As an active member of the Standing Committee on IT & Communication, I urge you, as a minister, to address this matter with urgency and to advocate for the implementation of safeguards within X's AI applications to ensure that the platform remains a secure environment for women," Chaturvedi stated.
