Won’t ally with any party, Gen Z protest may have role in BJP’s Bankipur defeat: Prashant Kishor

Business To Business, Patna, 03 August, 2026:   Prashant Kishor on Monday ruled out the possibility of joining any political alliance after his victory in the Bankipur Assembly constituency bypoll, saying his win was achieved independently.
Speaking to reporters after defeating Neeraj Kumar by more than 19,000 votes, Kishor said the result was made possible with support from disgruntled voters of the BJP, Congress and the RJD, adding that protests by Generation Z (Gen Z) over issues such as examination irregularities may also have influenced the outcome.
Kishor also claimed that:

  • The Bankipur verdict was "essentially against" Samrat Choudhary.
  • His party does not intend to join any political alliance despite the bypoll success.
The victory marked Kishor's electoral debut and ended the BJP's three-decade hold over the Bankipur constituency, which the party had won continuously since 1995.
