‘Na khaunga, na khane dunga’: Bengal food minister vows crackdown on 'ration corruption'

Business To Business, Kolkata, 12th May 2026:   Ashok Kirtania on Tuesday warned of strict action against corruption in the food and supplies department, asserting that he would neither engage in graft nor allow others to do so, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oft-repeated slogan, “Na khaunga, na khane dunga”.
Kirtania, who was assigned the food and cooperation portfolios during the first cabinet meeting of the new Bharatiya Janata Party government on Monday, visited the food department headquarters for the first time on Tuesday.
During the visit, the minister said action would soon be initiated against officials and individuals allegedly involved in irregularities under the previous regime.
“You give me one week’s time. Let me first act against those who indulged in corruption,” he told reporters, signalling an aggressive stance by the new state government on alleged administrative malpractice.
