I’m a physicist who studies fossils, and I recently discovered preserved blood vessels in the world’s largest T. rex

Business To Business, Regina, 12 August 2025: Despite extensive research in paleontology aiming to find traces of organic remains in fossils, dinosaur DNA has yet to be recovered. Most of our knowledge about dinosaurs comes from preserved bones and teeth unearthed from the ground. However, these hard tissues offer limited information on their own.

Soft tissues are exceedingly rare in the fossil record but are incredibly valuable for creating more life-like reconstructions of ancient creatures. Such tissues include muscles, ligaments, pigments, and even skin—covering scales or feathers—that can reveal detailed insights into how dinosaurs lived and their physical appearances.
