Business To Business, New Delhi, 02 September 2025: On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued an invitation for bids to acquire the title sponsorship rights for the Indian cricket team, following the withdrawal of fantasy sports giant Dream11. Additionally, the BCCI has prohibited companies engaged in real money gaming and cryptocurrency from participating in the bidding process, in accordance with a government-imposed ban on such entities.
Dream11 recently ceased its real money gaming operations in response to the 'Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025,' which mandates that "no individual shall offer, assist, promote, induce, or engage in providing online monetary gaming services, nor shall any advertisements directly or indirectly encourage participation in online money games."
Historically, Dream11 and My11Circle have jointly contributed approximately Rs 1,000 crore to the BCCI through their roles as title sponsors for the Indian cricket team and the Indian Premier League.
