Glasgow CWG ends as flag and baton handed to next host India
Business To Business, Glasgow, 03 August, 2026: The 2026 Commonwealth Games came to a close in Glasgow on Sunday, with the ceremonial handover of the Commonwealth Games flag and baton to India, which will host the Centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030.
The closing ceremony marked the symbolic transition from Scotland to India, with the theme: "Goodbye Scotland. Hello India!"
The flag and baton were handed over by Scottish officials to Indian representatives:
- Neeraj Chopra, Olympic gold medallist.
- P. T. Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
- Harsh Sanghavi, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The
2030 Commonwealth Games will be held in
Ahmedabad, marking the first time the city will host the multi-sport event and coinciding with the
100th anniversary of the Commonwealth Games.
The ceremony concluded 11 days of competition in Glasgow and formally launched India's preparations to welcome athletes from across the Commonwealth for the landmark centenary edition in 2030.
